Beating Insomnia With Acupuncture

INSOMNIA

Poor sleep is one of the most common complaints from my patients. Especially in the summer when the days grow longer and the weather is mild. There are many reasons why you might not be getting enough shut-eye, but one thing is certain—poor sleep undermines your health. If you don’t wake in the morning feeling refreshed and ready for a new day, then your body is telling you that something is out of balance.

The common contributing factors are stress, lifestyle, environment, diet, and pain or medication issues that interfere with a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, once insomnia becomes a habit, it is hard to break the cycle.

Poor concentration, confusion, lack of focus, and impaired memory are commonly referred to as “brain fog” and they are common symptoms of patients with insomnia. Lack of sleep also impairs our judgement, creativity, and undermines our performance at work, school and in physical activities.

Acupuncture focuses on the root cause of the imbalances that lead to insomnia, rather than the symptoms themselves. Every patient has a unique pattern of symptoms and the treatment will be tailored to address the underlying imbalances. Diet and lifestyle changes area always needed when insomnia becomes a habit. When combined with acupuncture treatment, it is a safe, effective and natural way to get a good night’s sleep.

If you are having trouble starting your day, staying energized, or staying focused, acupuncture can help you sleep better so that you can get the most out of your day! I tell my patients, ” If you want to get more out of your day, get more out of your sleep at night!”
