Express Yourself! — Say Farewell to “Celebrity Face”
“Tension is who you think you should be.
Relaxation is who you are”
~ Chinese proverb
“I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person.”
~Audrey Hepburn
The Chinese philosophers got it right, and so did Audrey Hepburn. Aging gracefully is more about celebrating who you are and allowing one’s natural beauty to shine. The days of frozen faces from Botox, and over-plumped lips from collagen injections seems to be outdated as more and more people are seeking healthier, more natural skincare treatments according to the NY Post. A frozen face is a face without wrinkles, and it’s a face without joy.
Personally, I don’t even like the term “Anti-Aging.” I prefer the expression “Healthy-Aging.” Regardless of one’s age, we all want to look and feel vibrant, healthy, and alive. Even in Hollywood, a growing number of celebrities are opting for natural treatments to promote healthy skincare, regardless of one’s age.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the words Jing-Shen refers to the mind/body connection. Jingrefers to a person’s physical essence right down to the DNA level. Shen refers to the spirit. The phrase Jing-Shen reflects the balance between the essence of mind and body and reflects a person’s vivacity and resilience. The mind and body are not seen as separate but rather are viewed as two aspects of the same whole. What affects the mind will affect the body. When there is a balance between the mind and body, when vital energy flows freely, better health and natural beauty also become apparent. Beauty is a reflection of inner health. We need our minds and bodies to be in balance in order to be strong, healthy, vibrant, and yes, BEAUTIFUL!
Acupuncture is one branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine that helps to balance the mind and body to promote better health. Cosmetic acupuncture, or Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture, helps to restore the health and vitality to the face by balancing hormones and increasing peripheral blood flow to the face, assisting natural collagen and elastin production, and repairing superficial wrinkles, to name just a few of the benefits. Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments produce a deep sense of relaxation, rebalancing the mind and body’s response to prolonged stress.
